Today was a good day. It started off a bit hectic and ended up happy and peaceful.
My best friend Tiffany and I decided to take the kids to the park to play. When we decided to go the sun was shining and the kids were happy. We got there and played with the kids, I took to many pictures as I always do and then it started to RAIN.
I had the bright idea to go home and bake cookies for the kids to decorate. I had bought all of the stuff to make them yesterday. CUTE halloween cookie cutters and decorations too.
As always, the kids were fighting and making up. Driving us crazy and then doing something cute to make us forget. I whipped up the cookie dough and rolled out about 2 dozen pumpkins, cats, bats and ghoasts. The kids couldnt wait to get their hands dirty and BOY did they ever!
They had frosting and cookie crumbs, black and orange confetti and little pumpkins EVERYWHERE! I took pictures of all the kids and the cookies they created!
I love doing things like that with my kids. It reminds me of when I was a kid, doing that with my mom. I know there are so many kids out there that never get to do things like that. Although simple, it makes for wonderful memories as an adult. I am all about memories. Making, creating and capturing them because once gone the only thing you have is to remember them.
As I watched my kids today, I smiled, more then once because I was able to see the happiness and inocence in their eyes. The laughter was contagious and I couldnt help but smile. I couldnt help but feel an overwhelming sense of LOVE and I was content. Just being a mother, a friend and teacher. I no longer take for granted the little things that wont be here tomorrow or 5 years from now. A memory can last a lifetime but a lifetime FULL of memories makes for a happy life.
